Film research
· The beginning of “The Dark Knight” sees a group of bank robbers robbing a bank. The thing that interested me was the focus on one or two characters at a time, and even though each one has a short screen time you learn a lot about each character E.G. what their names are, what their job is. This is related to our ideas because we want to show a lot about a character in a short space of time.
· “The Shawshank Redemption” opening has a voiceover playing throughout, with the character red telling the story of the character Andy Dufresne. This gave me the idea for the boss voicing over the beginning because it allows us to talk about the characters and what they do without compromising how we want to film.
· “Lord of War” opening has a bullet being fired and a voiceover talking about the life of a bullet. This is similar to “The Shawshank Redemption” because it allows us to give detail to the story without it having to be said by the characters. It's also an interesting approach because it focuses on an object not a person. In our piece, we follow a message being passed wround - so the message is almost like a character.
· “Reservoir Dogs” - I chose this because of the music being played over the top whilst they're walking down the street, is something I want to use. Heist films are all about style, and this is a good example of the kind of style we need to aim for.
· The opening to “Fight Club” interests me because of how it’s the end of the film but it’s the main character talking about how he got into the position he is in.
